A certain disciple called in Syriac language named, Tabitha, and in the Greek, Dorcas, meaning a "she goat", did many good works and alms deeds. She died at Joppa. Since Lydda was close to Joppa, the disciples heard that Peter was there. They sent two men to him to have him immediately come there. When Peter arrived, he fell on his knees and prayed and restored her to life. This was known through all Joppa and many believed in the Lord. Peter stayed there many days in the house of Simon a tanner. (ACT 9:36-43)
